
‘Oscar winning sound recordist Resul Pookutty is set to show off talent for his 2nd Hollywood film, which has Joaquin Phoenix of 'Walk The Line', and 'Gladiator' enacting the role of Edgar Allan Poe. According to reports, Resul Pookutty who won the Oscar for Best Sound Design for 'Slumdog Millionaire', when chosen for his new Hollywood film said, "It's a very special challenge, since I have to recreate the sound textures of New York in 1840s," The yet untitled film is reportedly a thriller and is an adaptation of the novel 'The Beautiful Cigar Girl' by Daniel Stashower and is based on the life of Edgar Allen Poe, American writer, poet, editor and literary critic. He further said “The film is based on an eerie real-life experience of author Edgar Allan Poe which happened just months before his death."
Resul Pukutty who has worked for numerous Bollywood and Malayalam films including ‘Blue’, ‘Pazhassiraja’ (2009), ‘Ghajini’, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Woodstock Villa’ (2008), ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’, ‘Saawariya’ and ‘Gandhi, My Father’ (2007) is currently working for Malayalam film Kandahar.
